Penn State WR Justin Brown is the Latest Transfer

Penn State’s top receiver chooses Oklahoma

Penn State merchandise The revolving door at Penn State has opened once again. This time it’s wide receiver Justin Brown. Brown, who caught 68 passes over the past two years, was set to be the main target for quarterback Matt McGloin. Junior Shawney Kersey figures to move into the top receiver spot for the Lions.

Brown’s departure comes on the heels of Kicker Anthony Fera’s decision to go to Texas. Star running back Silas Redd announced earlier in the week that he was transferring to USC. Under the recent sanctions handed down by the NCAA, players are allowed to transfer from Penn State without having to sit out a year.

Brown joins a Sooners team that has championship aspirations this year. They are led by Heisman hopeful quarterback Landry Jones. However, wide receiver is a thin position due to recent suspensions. The current Sooners roster has only one receiver with any collegiate career catches.

Brown provides an instant upgrade for the Sooners. His 6’ 3’’ frame will provide a big downfield target for Jones. Brown possesses the playmaking ability that can stretch the field and change any game. He is also an excellent punt returner and figures to give Oklahoma a boost in that area as well.

With training camp beginning on Monday, players will no longer be able to transfer this season. Penn State players can still transfer without penalty before the start of the 2013 season.
